RED HOT RED CARPET
Hollywood's hottest went out in a Blaze of Red as the epitome of Award's season came to a close. And although the glitz and glamour of the events has cooled off, what remains burning bright is the sizzle of Crimson! Smoldering and sexy shades of Scarlet stole the show and are now ruling the runway. So put on those rose colored glasses and see what RED can do for your product development!

With this latest surge towards all things ROUGE, we will be re-releasing our Red Hot Power Palette. Now you can have the hottest shades of Red at your finger tips! To order this exciting palette, please contact us at DoNow@design-options.com
BLACK SWAN PIROUETTE'S INTO L.A.'S MOCA
Rodarte's, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, will be debuting their first solo exhibition—of their Black Swan designs here in L.A. at MOCA this month. The exhibit, Rodarte: States of Matter, opens March 4 at the museum and is comprised of a collection of Swarovski crystal-dusted costumes and other sculptural designs.

“We wanted to express the duality of dark and light,” de Betak explained, referencing the strict color theme and extreme lighting design. “It’s in the different textures they use and it was important to express that in the way we brought it all together—the fluorescent and then the moody lighting, the beautiful white costumes and the drama of the dark.”
RUCCI, GUCCI, PUCCI... OH MY!
This month is all a buzz with Fashion Weeks across the globe. From Milan to Paris, the aroma of fashion fresh off the runway fills the air! Feathers, fur and of course rich COLOR were many stand out trends spotted. Luxurious textures and decadent lines were parallel as many designers paid homage to the 1970's. Chado Ralpho Rucci, Gucci and Emilio Pucci were just some to name a few.

SNEAK PEEK INTO FALL 2012
Now that Fall 2011 is coming to a close for many, it's time to think forward and begin to prepare for Fall 2012! Many of you may still be working on or just finishing up with Summer 2012, but the merry-go-roundness of this industry dictates that you should be primed to dive into the next. So with that, here is a just a tease of what's to come for Fall/Winter 2012...

March signals winter’s thaw and spring’s impending arrival. With warmer temperatures in the air, new colors for both home goods and fashion are also on their way. This month is all about freshening last season’s hues. Start with accents of clover green, powder blue, and citrus orange.
Verdant green reminds us that budding leaves and sprouting flowers are nearly here. Cloth pumps in shamrock green bring the luck of the Irish this St. Patty’s Day. Ready your sun porch with pillows in shades of celadon. An organic cotton shirt in mint keeps the last of winter’s chills at bay. Unfurl a bright green rug in your entryway.

Slowly but surely pastels are entering the picture this month, beginning with baby blue. Handmade earrings feature polished blue quartz stones. A retro chair is reupholstered in soft sapphire. Count the seconds down until spring with an azure wall clock. Light and easy, a simple dress is cut from sky blue fabric.

Add some spunk to the remainder of this cold season with punchy orange. A flannel pillow is freshened with a lace-up detail. Stay warm by wearing tights with a peach wrap dress. Sheer, tangerine curtains diffuse daytime’s glow. Make-up or coins or keys, oh my: save something special in a sherbet-patterned purse.

Look forward to seeing you at our seminars...

Red…red…red, the runway was filled with it and why not. Red is probably the hottest color in any industry. Got a red car, well better watch your speed because according to a report issued by the CHP, “it’s not that we look for red cars when handing out citations, it’s just that red is so visible in comparison to other colors on the road”.
What Webster's says about red…? “devised to keep a particular part or item always in full view or readily seen or referred to” Ok designers, you want to pop an area of your design, red; you want to be noticed, red, but most importantly … do you want your designs to stand out from the rest…RED. Red has been so popular that Design Options has created no less than 3 Power Palettes devoted to its magic . But wait, red will never stand alone as the fix all, remember it’s not just the power of one color, success comes from creating dynamite color combinations. Red has, most recently, inspired many of Design Options colors palettes surrounding the magic of Twilight. But if you really think about it Twilight is what gothic use to be, just more romance and less attitude, with a splash of…..you got it….RED.
So, let raise our cups to red, a color that is sensuous, romantic, powerful and sells at retail!
