Royal Hues
With all of the pomp and circumstance of the "21st Century Fairy Tale” still fresh in the air, it is no wonder that the future Queen has enormous "style shoes" to fill now that she is officially Her Royal Highness. Comparisons had already begun since the announcement of their engagement, but now more than ever Kate's style has shown a multitude of similarities to the late Princess Diana. Both poised and graceful, their styles appear effortless. And though Kate is the future of the Royal family, Diana's style will always live on through the new Duchess of Cambridge.

Both Diana and Kate were fearless with their style choice, neither afraid to embrace COLOR.

Copy Kate's
"Kate is British, but she looks like a classic, all-American girl.”She looks like she could be a Ralph Lauren model. She's classy but not dowdy -- modern, approachable and effortless. I think she's a good fashion icon for young girls to look up to globally." Anything she wears sells out almost overnight and designers are naming everything from tops to nail polish after the stylish Princess.

And look what a Royal Wedding did for the millinery industry!

Once the dust settles from the event of the Century, we can sit and watch as a royal style icon is born!
Beautiful May days are finally upon us. As the weather warms, it beckons us back outside. It’s time to re-explore the great outdoors and see what’s in store for home and fashion trends. This month the most current accessories are coming in shades of mild mint, butter yellow and deep plum.
Flower buds, pistachio ice cream, and tree leaves: delightful spring things that come in pale green. Satin pumps are dyed pale chartreuse. An ombre rose adorns a pea green hat. Lime-colored beads are illuminated on a glass chandelier. A patio chair glows florescent green.

A touch of yellow brings sunshine to furnishings and fashions. A cotton chemise features dainty pintucks and eyelets. Yellow glass dappled with blue and white is fashioned into a vase. Vintage sunglasses come in light lemon. Toss a bit of brightness onto your sofa with a citrus cushion.

Royal purple rounds out May’s hot hues. Cut from violet cloth, a child’s dress has a retro feel. A velvet sofa is trimmed with lavender tassels. Coat hangers painted plum are soldered into a table’s base. A pleather circle serves as a buckle on a purple belt.

The long-awaited spring season is now officially here. With these bright new days come lively new colors. Store shelves are blooming with pastel greens, warm yellows, and punchy purples. Embrace this beautiful time of year by bringing these happy hues into your home and wardrobe.

Stop living in the past with old outdated technology! Sometimes it takes an outsider to see things with the clarity that gets distorted by those who know too much. Did you know that the software that at least 90% of this industry uses for design was created for the photography industry? Photoshop has been around for years and for years the apparel industry has been using software created for those involved in photography. Even though working with this type of software is not my daily responsibility, I was introduced to textile software that was especially made for the apparel and home industries by Pointcarre, a French owed company that has been perfecting this software for over 20 years. They took me under their wings to teach me the benefits of this remarkable product. The reason for this special treatment was because Pointcarre uses Design Options color palettes to help drive the benefits of their product. Since our color reports are delivered as palettes, with Pantone TCX references, we were a perfect fit for what they offer.
Unlike most color forecasting companies, Design Options produces palettes that can actually create a turnkey way of coloring your prints or textiles. Each palette displays color stories that can be used to color prints as well as solids and yarn dyes. When incorporated within Pointcarre, these palettes make getting to market fast and simple. I truly hope all designers take advantage of the FREE WEBINAR that is being offered on May 10th. If you have any questions regarding this webinar, or Pointcarre or Design Options’, please feel free to contact our office for detailed information. PLEASE NOTE- YOU CAN SIGN UP BELOW.
Remember, the work you perform as designers is only as good as the tools you are using … so use the best!
