Missoni Madness
First came the amazing collaboration with Target, where a week's worth of pop-up shop sold out in a day during New York fashion week.

Textiles
Taking cues from Missoni's iconic print, textile manufacturers are zigzagging their way into spring with brilliant colors and chevron patterns.

Avid Ink, Robert Kaufman, Cinergy Textiles & Triple Textile
Angela Missoni spent the summer in Sardinia watching her daughters arriving home at dawn after a night out dancing, and she got thinking about the kind of clothes that best suited such a situation: something spontaneous, improvised, mobile. And out of that came a collection that dipped and swooped in ruffled tiers, fringed here, patched there, asymmetrical to a dizzy fault, but always in motion.

Missoni Spring 2012

It’s official: October is here. This is the month for changing leaves, Halloween, and the start of fall. As temperatures drop, colors of both homegoods and fashion get more saturated in shade. Look for hues like burgundy, navy, and rust to be lining store shelves.
Summer’s cherry red has deepened to a burgundy. Layer a long-sleeved, maroon tee under a wool sweater. Scarlet sunglasses shield eyes from dust during wind gusts. Serve up your favorite soup in hand-glazed bowls. Instead of blah brown, a bookcase comes in beautiful burgundy.

Perhaps no color is more classic than navy, and that color is making a resurgence this month. Keep out autumn chills with an indigo-dyed cardigan. A rag rug is woven from strips of worn denim. Curl up with a good book and a vintage blue pillow in front of a cozy fire. A navy cotton frock is perfect for apple picking.

From pumpkins to early sunsets, burnt orange is the hue most associated with this time of year. Stay warm with a wrap-around, crocheted collar in rust. A burnt orange beaded bangle is a lovely fall accessory. Fill a blown glass vase with straw flowers. A heap of homework is best tackled under the glow of a russet lamp.

The start of a new season is the ideal reason to hit the stores and stock up on new accents for both your home and wardrobe. Autumn is teaming with colors that may not be as cheery as summer but are no less bold. Choose hues of scarlet, indigo, and burnt orange when redressing your nest this fall.
Wishing you a Colorful Fall Season!

Problem;
After over 35 years in sales I’ve learned one thing, it’s easier to sell someone something they want rather than trying to educate the market on a new and improve anything to see if they can convince the market to swim upstream. This rule works when it comes to trends, color and what just walked down the runway and over on the red carpet. As it always has been, the junior market still controls the must haves at retail and 30 is the new 60 bla, bla, bla. Aren’t you sick of hearing the same thing season after season after season? So what to do, how do we think outside the box but at the same time have some kind of insurance or better yet a support team that can help us with what we are doing and give us direction.
Answer / Suggestion;
I have recently become involved with a group that has as its member’s cornerstones in its industry. Those who will offer an unbiased approach to focusing on the day to day hurtles we face. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to have, at your fingertips, knowledgeable people who have been there? People who are not the competition, rather individuals who can offer answers without any emotional attachment. I know I usually talk to you about what’s hot and some of the current trends in our industry, but what the industry needs is a focal point that all of those who choose to belong to this organization will have access key people who not only are successful but will offer invaluable information that can help eliminate those hurtles I mentioned earlier.
Design Options has helped so many manufacturers, designers and retailers when it comes to color direction and color information. I know firsthand that when I am at any of our presentations I am always asked questions about areas outside my expertise. Important questions that if left unanswered or worse yet answered incorrectly can have devastating repercussions on their entire season.
So, in closing, I want you to add to the value of this new organization. I want all of you to respond to this invitation and tell us exactly what areas in your business needs to be addressed. Help us help you not only succeed but at the same time eliminate unneeded expenses.
I await your response to this incredible opportunity to cut to the chase and take many of the uncertainties out of your product development.
Let's not procrastinate … let's tale action!
